In this workshop, Web Science students will learn about what is expected from them in seminars, research papers and their thesis. The overall goal is to improve their skills in academic writing.
- The scientific method
- How to structure your text
- Language and style
- Avoiding plagiarism through proper referencing
The workshop will be in the form of a block course (approx 4 hours). It combines instruction as well as practical exercises. Students learn and understand the process and requirements of academic writing. For those interested it will continue in a more interactive peer evaluation session during the Long Night of Studying on 8. December. Details will follow soon.

Ulrich Wechselberger has a degree and Ph.D. in educational science with psychology and sociology as minors. During his work at the computer science department at University of Koblenz-Landau he has supervised various diploma and master theses with an interdisciplinary focus. As a Post-Doc at University of Paderborn he was an advisor for Ph.D. students and Post-Docs in empirical research methods.
