The Institute for Web Science and Technologies (WeST) with its Master Programme in Web Science is winner in the federal competition „Landmarks in the Land of Ideas“ 2015.
The award ceremony took place on 16 June at the campus in Koblenz. Dr. Daniela Heinemann from the State Ministry of Rhineland-Palatinate for Education, Science, Further Education and Culture lauded the vision and supra-regional impact of the programme. Rüdiger Noack from Deutsche Bank handed the award on to the director of Institute WeST, Professor Steffen Staab, as well as to the president of the University of Koblenz-Landau, Professor Roman Heiligenthal, and pointed out: „The Master Programme in Web Science has realised early that digital change can only succeed if we integrate all areas, from economy over science to culture and the society.“
The ceremony was part of the transfer day which was organised by ZIFET and Gründungsbüro Koblenz. Researchers and students from the university presented their work to a broad audience from industry, civil service and science in order to identify shared interests and discuss future activities and cooperations.
