EU Project CUTLER started with a Kick-off meeting at Thessaloniki

The recently granted EU project CUTLER aims to shift the existing paradigm of policy making in coastal areas, which is largely based on intuition, towards an evidence-driven approach enabled by big data. In the second week of January 2018, the kick-off meeting brought together the 15 international project partners in Thessaloniki/Greece. WeST was represented by Dr. Chandan Kumar and Jun Sun, where they presented our focus on trend detection, opinion mining from crowdsourcing/social media platforms, and provide appropriate visualisations and predictive analytics to assess the social consequences of policy implementation.
