From SemGIS Mapping Algorithms to Semantic Dictionaries on Hittite Cuneiform

Recent developments in the SemGIS project In part one an update on recent developments in the SemGIS project concerning automated mapping approaches of geospatial data into the semantic web is given. It will summarize the work of [2], a submitted publication to EKAW2016 and two upcoming publications for the INSPIRE Conference 2016, in which an automated integration of geospatial data into the semantic web is discussed. As the first paper has been partly presented in previous Oberseminar talks, this part of the talk will focus more on ideas of the second paper to automatically map a sufficiently enough subset of concepts and relations to describe a geospatial entity in a semantic context and how to integrate already existing ontologies like INSPIRE into this picture.

Creation of Semantic Dictionaries in low resource languages In part two, a concept of a Natural Language Processing pipeline for Hittite cuneiform is presented. This work is based on [1] and a to-be-published paper covering a baseline for POSTagging in Hittite cuneiform. The results of the POSTagging evaluations are discussed and further work on translation and the creation of a semantic dictionary according to existing standards (Lemon Model and OLIA Model) shown.

Applications of the anticipated results are also briefly discussed in this regard.
