In April the Institute for Web Science & Technologies was a guest in Fujian province in China. Dr. Ulrich Wechselberger, managing director of Institute WeST, visited Fuzhou University and the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in Fuzhou. Subject of the visit were the joint 1+2 study programmes in Web Science and Computer Science. In these programmes, students study one year in China and two in Germany and earn both a Chinese and a German Master’s degree.
WeST already successfully cooperates with Fuzhou University. Vice dean Meiqing Wang, vice dean Yuanlong Yu from the College of Mathematics and Computer Science and Ulrich Wechselberger from Institute WeST confirmed their interest in extending the cooperation to allure even more Chinese students to enroll in the 1+2 programme in the future.
The College of Computer and Information Sciences at the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, which is not yet cooperating with WeST, showed great interest in the 1+2 programme. Within the next weeks, dean Qiqing Chen und Ulrich Wechselberger will initiate the first steps for a cooperation so both institutions will be able to offer Chinese students double degrees in Computer Science and Web Science.
The participating Universities receive conceptual and organisational support from the Rhineland-Palatinate Academy Fujian. The academy stimulates partnerships between Rhineland-Palatinate and Fujian province in public education and closely cooperates with the University of Koblenz-Landau.
