Research Lab "Distributed Scalable Network Analysis"

[go to overview]

Winter Term 2014 / 2015

This is a research lab ("Forschungspraktikum" in German) in Winter Term 2014/2015 on the topic of Distributed Scalable Network Analysis.

Course number in Klips: 04748

Organizers:  Dr. Jérôme Kunegis, Stefan Scheglmann, Prof. Steffen Staab

In this research lab you will be developing algorithms for distributed and scalable network analysis.  Many data from different areas can be represented as networks, such as social networks, the Internet, citation networks, communication networks, etc.  Many such datasets are very big, and to analyse them scalable and distributed algorithms are thus needed. In the course of the research lab, you will develop a framework that can be used to perform network analysis in a distributed way.  Covered network analysis methods will include the clustering coefficient, the hop distribution and graph matrix decompositions.  Datasets to be used will be taken from the Koblenz Network Collection (KONECT –
