GazeTheWeb: A Framework to Enable Gaze based Web Access[go to overview]
The Web has become part of our all-day life, but its access is limited to either mouse and keyboard or touch based input devices. The technical development of eye tracking systems over the recent years makes them affordable and act as an exciting opportunity to include people with disabilities into the modern digital environment. We propose GazeTheWeb, a Chromium based Web browser that is completely controllable by gaze. Unsupervised element extraction is employed to classify different interaction possibilities, to improve the usability towards more than just simple emulation of physical input devices. It is currently evaluated by our partners in Greece and Israel with a target group of people with serve disabilities and a control group.
